Sustainability

Sincere respect and love for nature is deeply ingrained in Paloma's business model and design philosophy. No heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, or any form of artificial manipulations have been used at any stage in the jewelry-creation process. We take our responsibility of ethical production and fair trade practices very seriously.

In 2015, Paloma held a fashion show at Gemsolar, Sevilla, Spain, the largest solar energy plant in the EU, to raise awareness and to promote environmental sustainability. Nature is the new luxury.

Gem Cutting Workshop for Women in Ethiopia

There are many women in Ethiopia who are abandoned by their miner husbands. Traditionally, Ethiopian women relied on their husbands for income, security, and overall livelihood. What happens when their husbands abandon them?

Paloma has opened a gem cutting workshop in Addis Ababa to employ abandoned women. At the workshop, women are taught and educated about gemstones, how to operate a gem-cutting machine, and how to properly cut and care for precious stones.

The workshop helps women get educated and employed to provide a stable income for their children and other family members. It is a project to give women the equal opportunity to obtain financial independent and job security.
