The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), the only global organization specifically established to serve the colored gemstone industry, has announced the appointment of gemologist Ms. Paloma Sanchez as its official Ambassador to China.

With over 40 years of experience in the gemstone market, including 20 years in the Chinese gemstone industry, Ms. Paloma brings a unique perspective to the role. Having lived in China for many years, she is widely recognized by major industry institutions and is a regular featured expert at significant gem fairs across the country.

“I am honored to take on this responsibility,” said Ms. Paloma. “Having witnessed the growth of China’s colored gemstone market firsthand, I look forward to connecting ICA’s global network with local trade professionals, promoting ethical standards, and fostering a deeper appreciation for colored gemstones among Chinese consumers and jewelers.”

The role of ICA Ambassador to China involves facilitating communication between ICA headquarters and the Chinese gemstone sector, supporting the initiatives of ICA’s China Committee, and promoting the association’s mission of advancing colored gemstone knowledge and consistent business standards. ICA currently comprises more than 700 gem industry leaders from 47 countries, including miners, cutters, retailers, and gemological laboratories.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the colored gemstone market, which continues to experience growing demand across the Asia-Pacific region. ICA publishes InColor magazine, a quarterly industry reference distributed to 8,000–10,000 readers worldwide, including a dedicated Chinese edition.
